Description and Learning Objectives

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding psychedelics in Canada in Seminar 4 of the MAPS Canada School of Psychedelics seminar series, Psychedelics in Canada: Past, Present and Future. Instructors Susan Chapelle, Rielle Capler, Jack Lloyd, Paul Lewin and Akwasi Owusu-Bempah will lead participants on a journey from the history of controlled substances to the current legal and regulatory landscape of psychedelics in Canada and their implications for access. By the end of the seminar, participants will have a thorough understanding of the history and current state of federal regulations, licensing requirements, current provincial regulations, as well as obligations to patients under the Canadian Charter of Right and Freedoms, and issues related to UNDRIP, Indigenous sovereignty, and meaningful consultation.
